The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest archdiocese in the nation, is handing over six thousand documents relating to priest sex abuse as part of a settlement. Bishop Francis Kane offered his apologies to all the people who have been affected by this, the victims, the families, and to offer the apology of the archdiocese as well.
The documents are the result of a settlement, and focus on 30 priests accused of sex abuse. John O'Malley, an attorney for the Chicago's Archdiocese says 14 of the priests are dead, all but two are no longer priests and none is in active ministry.
O'Malley says 95 percent of the cases came before 1988 and all of the allegations have been reported to authorities years ago.
