A pregnant 16-year-old in the Dominican Republic became the center of the abortion debate when she died last Friday amid reports that doctors had delayed administering chemotherapy out of fear that it could terminate her pregnancy and violate the Dominican Republic's strict anti-abortion law. But her doctor said it was the wait for test results, not abortion ban, that delayed her treatment.
